Audi Transmission Expands its Capacity in Tianjin

Audi Transmission Capacity Expansion Project (DL382), the second phase of Volkswagen Automatic Transmission (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., has been put into production in Tianjin in August. The capacity will be increased to 240,000 transmissions per year from the present 90,000 sets. The total employees will reach 1000 after full capacity is realized.
The transmission plant is located in the Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone, which is a joint venture of Volkswagen China and Audi, and it is also the first transmission plant in China. 
The expansion was invested with 1769 million yuan, adding production equipment to the existing DL382 double clutch automatic transmission facilities. According to the long-term capacity planning of Volkswagen, the plant will be expanded to the third phase and the objective is to realize the production of 480,000 DL382 transmissions per yer.
In Sep. 2013, Volkswagen China has signed an agreement with Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone for the 300,000 m2 plant of DL382 transmissions production project. The plant is planned in two phases, and the first phase has been completed in 2014.
