SGMW announced to build its first overseas plant in Indonesia

On February 2, 2015, SAIC (short for SAIC Motor Corporation Limited) and GM jointly announced that SGMW (short for SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd) would set up its first overseas plant in Indonesia.
   The new plant is located near Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, and will be officially started construction in 2015. According to its plan, the plant will produce Wuling brand serial products, mainly for the MPV 7-seater vehicle model. The products will be sold primarily in Indonesia, with the potential to be exported to other ASEAN countries in the future. The new plant to be built in Indonesia will be the first vehicle manufacturing factory of SGMW overseas. It will have such functions as R & D, design, manufacturing, and sales of the products.
   In 2014, the annual sale of SGMW was about 1.806 million vehicles, of which the exports were about 18,000 vehicles. The sales target of SGMW in 2015 is two million vehicles, including exports.
