Since 2013, commissioned by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), China Foundry Association (CFA) has invited and organized metalcasting industry experts to investigate into the materials provided by all levels of enterprises from most provinces and cities during the last three months. With 30,000 metalcasters in total in China, the amount of identified companies through the Access accreditation in 2013 account for only 1.35% of the total, while their total output accounts for 12.4% of the total production. In 2014, the amount of companies meeting the accreditation standard accounts for 4.07% of the total, while the total output accounts for 38.2% of the total production. We can draw a conclusion easily that the metalcasters in the accreditation is far less from the total number, but their production share is relatively very high, which shows that these companies represent most of the large and leading metalcasters of China.
There are too many metalcasting enterprises in China, while with a low average capacity and backward technology, low labor productivity and low efficiency of resources, as well as the growing pollution, accidents and unhealthy competition. The Access System is an industrial policy catered for guiding the metalcasting industry to develop in a new way of industrialization, which requires the industry to develop in an intensive development mode, accelerating technology upgrading, independent innovation, integration and merger, eliminating the backward, and finally promoting the industry’s structural adjustment and optimization.
Through the accreditation, it’s proved that the Access System to Chinese metalcasting industry has seen its effectiveness in upgrading and transformation of the industry. With the deepening development of this accreditation program and arising of a series of industrial polices, driven by the market, the Chinese metalcasting industry will speed up its elimination of the backward production capacity and upgrading, and develop to be a metalcasting power nation.
